Between September 14–16 there were two church burglaries reported in Minnetonka. In both cases, the suspect forced their way in through a door or window by breaking the glass. Stolen items include cash and an LCD projector. There is no suspect description information at this time.
Minnetonka Police are urging people to be watchful and aware of suspicious activity, vehicles and individuals and to call 9-1-1 to report it.
- Items usually associated with houses of worship such as sound systems, audio/visual equipment,computers, and religious ceremonial objects such as candelabras, crosses, and other items which could be made of gold or other valuable material are all very desirable to thieves. These items should be marked for identification.
- Installation of a drop safe to be used for storing money.
- Develop a voucher system with local shelters for food and lodging needs, eliminating the need for cash.
- Post signage at the entrance to the building which states there is no cash on the premises.
