Neighborhood Outreach
Community Policing and Problem Solving
Minnetonka Police Officers patrol the community in patrol cars and on mountain bikes. Bicycles allow officers to reach neighborhood parks, trails and other areas that are difficult to reach via patrol car, and also provide a unique opportunity for officers to interact with adults and children. Officers have undergone special mountain bike training and are outfitted with custom bicycles and clothing to manage the variable and often unpredictable Minnesota weather.
Racial profiling
The color of your skin, your race, ethnicity or national origin… your profile… is not reason alone for you to be stopped or searched by a police officer.
The use of racial or ethnic stereotypes in selecting whom to stop and search is illegal under Minnesota law and a violation of Minnetonka Police Department policy. You cannot be pulled over just because of your race.
If you think you have been victimized by biased policing, contact the Minnetonka Police Department at 952.939.8500 and ask to speak to a supervisor. You may also contact the Minnesota Attorney General at 1.800.657.3787.
Police badges
Minnetonka Police patches or badges are not available to the public.
There are many police patch and badge collectors all over the world. Our web site generates hundreds of requests for patches and badges each month.
Unfortunately, we are unable to honor those requests.
