Update

The tree ordinance was approved by the city council on August 25, 2008.

On August 11, the city council approved the tree ordinance key points. The tree protection ordinance will be considered at the August 25 city council meeting.

New tree ordinance proposed

In order to protect remnant woodland ecosystems and protect trees that are of higher value and important to a particular site or neighborhood character, the city plans to update its tree ordinance. The proposed ordinance will apply to properties where new construction is planned or where there is a subdivision of land. It will not apply to currently developed properties where there is no proposed construction. A draft of this proposed, updated ordinance is available below. This is only a draft, and a city staff encourages public comment on the draft.
