Section 8 rental assistance
The Metropolitan Council administers the federal Section 8 rent-subsidy program, which qualifies tenants who meet certain guidelines to live in either privately-owned, market-rate rental housing or housing built or rehabbed through Section 8. Participants pay no more than 40 percent of their income for rent and utilities.
To register for Section 8 assistance, please call the Metropolitan Council at 651.602.1553 the last Thursday of each month between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Currently, the Section 8 voucher waiting list is closed and the Metropolitan Council is not accepting applications at this time.
