All positions require that you complete an application form (PDF) or fill out an online application. You can also call 952.939.8203, or visit the Recreation Services office Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., to obtain a full application.
Recreation Services offers many part-time jobs throughout the year. Apply early as positions are filled as early as possible. It’s never too early to apply. You must be at least 16 years of age.

Currently available positions
Park and Beach Facilities
- Beach Lifeguards for Shady Oak Beach and Libbs Lake Beach
Approximate dates: June 8–August 26
Hours: Part-time or full-time hours
Schedule: Sunday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Weekday, weeknight and weekend hours available.
Starting wage: $9.50
Additional information:
- Prevent patrons from getting into situations that endanger themselves or others.
- Enforce beach rules to patrons.
- Use proper procedures when applying emergency action plans.
- Review LGT and CPRPR skills on a regular basis.
- Complete records and reports.
- Assist to keep beach area clean and neat. This includes the sand area.
- Act as a representative for recreation services when working and when around patrons.
- Must maintain physical condition (30 minutes aerobic activity 3 x week)(unpaid)
- Assist with daily opening and closing procedures for the beach.
Required qualifications/experience:
- Current LGT, and CPRPR certifications.
- Maturity to handle high volume of patrons at the beach.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (people).
- Ability to handle high pressure situations, and administer first aid.
- Pass lifeguard skills test and drug test.
Required: Two or more years previous experience in lifeguarding
